The journal was founded by the Sumy National Agrarian University in 1996 as one of the series of “Bulletin of Sumy National Agrarian University”. In 2018 “Bulletin of Sumy National Agrarian University. The series: Mechanization and Automation of Production Processes” was re-registered as a separate journal (Certificate of state registration of print media Series KB № 23688-13528P, 21.11.2018).

Based on the Orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 1188 dated 24.09.2020 (Annex 5) and  № 491 dated 27.04.2023 (Annex 3) a scientific journal "Bulletin of Sumy National Agrarian University. The series: Mechanization and Automation of Production Processes" is included in the list of scientific professional publications of Ukraine (category "B") in the field of technical sciences (131 "Applied Mechanics", 133 "Industrial Engineering", 208 "Agroengineering", 181 "Food Technologies").
